Sheila Early (she/her) has had 50+ years of professional practice experience in Obstetrics, Emergency and Forensic Nursing. She has been an Educator, Consultant, and author in Forensic Nursing. She co-developed the first Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program in British Columbia in 1992 (second in Canada) and has 13 years of Forensic Nurse Examiner experience. She is the co-founder of the Canadian Forensic Nurses Association (2006). She also developed the first Canadian speciality certificate (2006) and co-developed the first graduate certificate (2018) in Forensic Health Sciences at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. She was the elected International Association President in 2014 and Canadian Forensic Nurses Association President from 2000-2023. She believes forensic nursing roles must be integrated into Canada’s health and legal systems, as well as globally.
